What Caught My Eye Today

Iraq - Trent Lott commenting on the Republican Party's reluctance to back a single proposed resolution on the Iraq war, "To herd the cats some times you have to let them stray. Think about that. Keeping them together by letting them stray." Okay, I'm thinking about it...Dude, what are you talking about?

North Korea - North Korea says it will be compelled to conduct a second nuclear missle test if the latest 6 nation talks to resolve an alleged money laundering scheme don't show signs of progress. I'm sure that will help matters. Maybe we should apply this strategy in the workplace when negotiating for pay hikes. I can see it now..."Hey, boss. Either you give me a raise, or I will be compelled to pull out my sawed-off shotgun for another round of target practice in the lunchroom."

Google - Closes over $500. Thank goodness, I listened to my gut and took a pass on buying when Google hit $300. No telling what I would have done with all those capital gains.

Media Day at the Super Bowl - Yesterday, Mike Wilbon reported on ESPN's 'Pardon The Interruption' the most intriguing thing about the event was all the players trying to get a picture with the sports reporter from Television Azteca, Inez Sainz Gallo. When asked if she covered alot of sporting events, she said, "Oh yes, very much." When asked what teams played in last year's Super Bowl, she replied, "No, I don't think so. So why the interest in such a well-versed sports reporter...I'll let you draw your own conclusions (click here).

What Caught My Eye Today

Iraq - Words of wisdom from Bush's nominee to head Central Command, "What we have been doing has not been working. We have got to be doing, it seems to me, something different." Of course, when asked the impertinent question of what we should do differently he had no answers. This sounds promising.

Fidel Castro - Had him in my dead pool last year. Thought I had a sure thing. Now dude is hanging with Hugo Chavez. I'm guessing they're planning for that shin-dig in 2008 when Bush's reign comes to an end.

Miss America - This year's winner from Oklahoma promises to lead a model life. America's reaction...We still have a Miss America?

Barbaro - Rest in Peace. Thanks for bringing a bit of inspiration into our lives. We humans could learn a thing or two from our equine friends.

The Super Bowl - Go Peyton! Colts by 9.

Late to the world of blogging...What else is new?

January 29, 2007

Welcome to my blog. Given what I do for a living, to say I'm a bit late in embracing this form of communication would be a bit of an understatement. For those who know me, this probably comes as no surprise. Better late than never, right?

So why do this now? I wish I could say that I had some sort of inspiration or epiphany that drew me to do this...but that isn't really the case. Plain and simple--I like to write and on occasion I get the urge to be creative. Plus I have no shortage of opinions on the state of affairs of the world we live in.

The beauty of this blogging deal is that I can pretty much say whatever I want and you can choose to read or ignore, agree or disagree with whatever I have to say.

So let the fun begin.
